Question Help! Keyless / Central Locking not operating

Hiya,

I was valeting the interior of the S2000 yesterday and whilst in the drivers footwell I caught two wires (Yellow and Yellow/Black) by accident. The wires were attached to what appears to be a relay of some sort. The relay box was hanging down in the footwell and the wires are very short and do not give much play.

Now the central locking does not work either in the car or by using the remote for keyless entry. I have checked the fuses (3) in the footwell and engine bay and they are all well and intact.

I have attached some pictures to illustrate the point. I have today worked out that these two wires were located in the centre connector of the relay box (1) and I have connected them back in but the central locking still does not work. Alarm working fine.

I removed the footwell plastic cover and noticed two other fuses (2). Don't know what they are for but they are intact as well.

Anyway, can anyone help me before I'm forced to take it to a dealer?

Thanks,

Blinx

it's got an aftermarket cat 1 on it, fuses will be for indicators, the relay will be a swapover for the boot pop

I'm not sure that is completely correct as the wires were connected to the centre pin which is marked 87a on your above diagram.

How do you know it has an aftermarket alarm? The black box with the two fuses?

How do I fix this one? Can I just replace the relay and what with? Am I looking at a dealer visit or a new alarm?

deffo not dealer, if anything an indy alarm installer, an auto elec, or someone local to you on here who understands it

can you chase the wires from the relay and find what connections they go to on the, keyless door entry box, if you can draw it like above, is the car uk or jdm?

you got a make and model of alarm so we can try and get wiring (pm it me if needs be)

Hi,

Just checked the car and it appears to be made in Italy by Gemel. Code off the box is Gemel GR 48T.

As an update the alarm works fine. I have re-disconnected the battery to check the wiring and reset everything. All the other connectors on the relay go to that black unit which is shown above. This appears to be the control unit for the alarm system.

I wonder if the relay (12v 30A) is gone or in accidentally knocking the two wires out that I have killed the door actuators?

Any suggestions?

I have just found this website and can confirm it is a Serpi Star Gemel.

I have the Serpi/Star Gemel 2 Button Self Coding Remote Control and Gemel/Serpi Star 'DR' Touchkey.

Here is a link to a website with the information:
Serpi Star Alarm Systems

The system has the battery back-up and ultra-sonics aswell.

is the relay getting power?
see if it's clicking if not get a test lamp or meter on it when you arm and unarm the alarm,
i can't see the need for a relay for the doors, usually the alarm has plenty of power, cause of this i'm convinced the relay is for the boot pop,
do the doors still cental lock from inside or with the key? if not thats the first thing to get working

I will check power to the relay later. Currently no clicking sound heard.

The thing is the doors do not central lock from inside or with the key which makes me think its not the alarm system that has been affected.

What do you think?

I have checked the relay and I have the following information in relation to the above relay diagram.

30 - Yellow/Black & Black/Red
85 - Green/Blue
86 - Purple
87 - Red/Yellow
87a - Has a spade plug but wire missing (could be either yellow or yellow/black)

What I need to determine is which of the loose wire needs connecting to what.

Does the Black/Yellow need to be connected to 87 and if so where does the yellow one need to be connected to? 87a? the one with the blank spade plug?

Any help would be appreciated. I spoke with someone this morning and they made it sound like it was a re-wire job to understand another person's work.

Thanks, Blinx

Right, some updated news.

I have just tested the two wires with the help of a digital multimeter and I noticed the following:

The doors can be locked and unlocked. This means that the door entry system is working fine and it is just a matter of wiring the correct colour up to the relay for the alarm system.

Yellow/Black - Locks the doors
Yellow - Unlocks the doors

Now, the question I need to answer to complete the puzzle and fix this minor issue is which one gets connected to which on the relay.
