Default Help Needed ASAP!

Hi
Went out to my car this morning, pushed the start button and the engine wouldn't turn over. It started with a really feable attempt, and each subsequent press of the button sounded weaker until now all it does is a very fast clicking noise. I am not a mechanic so I can't tell you much more - battery or immobiliser springs to mind though.

It's a very clean 2002 model - any ideas?

Thanks

PS
Will add VIN number etc ASAP

Had the same problem with mine!

Was down to loose battery terminal connection. Battery was not charging due to this!

May be a duff battery though!

Would have said battery, if its the immobiliser you get no sound at all.
Has she been sitting around for a while?
Charge battery or get her jump started and take her for a real long drive!

Hi, s2kbee. If it turned over, in fact I think even if it clicks, the immobiliser isn't cutting in, so it's more than likely your battery.

When I had a problem with my immobiliser (through the key fob battery running out completely and getting out of sync), when you pressed the start button, nothing happened at all.

If you can't find another car to help out, call up the AA under the Honda Warranty - assuming your car is still in warranty that is.. They turned up within the hour when I needed them for mine.. and with a flatbed too

Had the Honda Assistance AA guy out this morning. He's managed to get the car started, but the engine warning light is lite up. He has told me to take it to a Honda dealer ASAP, who will be able to sort this but in the meantime he has told me it will be alright to drive. Does anyone whether this is true?

Thanks for all your help.

oops, forgot to say that it is apparently the battery - as you all expected. he said i must have left something switched on to run it down, but i can't think what. i think it's probably more like what LLOYDJ said about the battery not charging because of loose connections. i'll get honda to check it asap

Dunno about the engine light... might just have come on as the battery was so dead ??? but should be ok to drive to the dealer without any VTEC They'll sort you out soon enough.
