Yup, 02+ have minor cosmetic changes and the rear glass screen.
A non-GT S would need a hardtop kit to fit a hard top on. It really depends whether you have room to store it when it's not in use. Also depends whether it's an everyday car where a hardtop would become more useful over winter periods.

The "hard top kits" that people refer to are simply the mounts for the hard top. Non GT cars, in addition to not having a hard top, don't have the mounting points for the roof either.
Take a look (if you haven't already) at the For Sale section on here. Knowing you're buying a well looked after member's car will give some piece of mind ...

Looks like i need to source a GT then.... really do want to be able to have the Hardtop on through most of the year - To be honest if they did a coupe S2000 that's what I would be after!
I have had my eye on the classifieds section in here for a while - its just that as I sold my last car last Thursday I really now am in the market to buy asap..... don't want to rush in though as there seem to be a few examples out there to choose from.

I've got a GT because its a daily driver but I wouldn't loose sleep if you find the right non GT.
remember:
1. it takes 2 people to fit or remove the hard top not because of weight but its the size.
2. When you arn't using the hard top, where are you going to keep it?
If your happy with the above then a GT could be ok for you if not, don't worry.
Whatever you get you will have fun

Welcome to the board. Take a look at the Technical FAQ which answers both your questions

With a hardtop you can't just drop the top when you want. Storing it is a problem too. Personally I think they look a bit 'stuck on', but thats what they are I guess
