Mugen do a double core radiator IIRC, supposed to be lots better.

I've just done a quick search for commentson the Koyo radiator and found this comment about radiators in general here:

"The increased cooling efficiency of a radiator will not affect engine temperature except if there is a situation where the engine would otherwise overheat.

The engine will not run cooler if the radiator can remove more heat. That's because the thermostat regulates the temperature of the coolant in the engine. It opens up and closes a valve, allowing more or less flow to the engine through the radiator. The cooling fans kick in when the temp sensor indicates the temperature in the radiator exceeds a preset limit.

An increased efficiency radiator will prevent the cooling fans from kicking in as often, and would probably be very desirable in very hot climates where overheating is a concern. So if you spend a lot of time in rush hour traffic with the A/C cranked up high in the hot Summer sun, then a better radiator would probably be a good idea."

So what if you run a better Rad and the lower Temp switch and Thermostat, that would be the way forward?

so that the coolant goes into the engine at a lower temp therefore does in fact keep the engine cooler??

Craig does that make sense?

Why would you want to run the engine at a lower temp?
Surely it's designed to run at a specific temp.

The amount of development that goes into cooling systems these days is immense. The latest cars go through climate testing in the Utah Plains where temperatures go up to 45 degs, and in Norway where temperatures drop below -20 degs. And the cooling / heating systems are designed to deal with this.

Whilst these products (thicker core radiators, thermo-switches, thermo-stats etc) are available, in the UK climate you will have no need for these products. Even after a track session, I've never seen the S2000 temperature rise above four bars for longer than a minute!

It is a good system that doesn't need tinkering unless you're going to change your car into a race car, then its for weight-saving reasons rather than cooling reasons!
