Default High Idle From Cold

Hello All

I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem (or is this actually a problem)

When i start my car from cold it idles at 2k rpm for around 30sec before slowly going down to just under 1k rpm

Is this normal??

Maybe a bit high but nothing to worry about,i think mine idles about 1500-1600rpm then settles down.

As long as its not doing it when hot i cant see it as a problem.

Completely normal. If you think it is high, you should see how high their motorcycles idle at from cold. That was the case with my CBR anyway.

Don't worry about it.

I asked this exact same question in my first few days of ownership, think the general consensus was that its quite normal, and depends on a number of factors eg; ambient temperature etc.

Normal and indeed a good engine speed for a cold engine

Yep, normal.

Our 2002 Civic type-r did the same thing too

I actually think its quite nice how clinical the engine warmup process is - reminds me everytime I start it what an engineering masterpiece it is
