As soon as I get an MOT back on mine, I aim to throw miles onto it.

Just service them frequently and apply fuel.

Newbie question here - is high mileage something to be worried about with these engines, reliability wise etc ? what would you expect to see done on higher mileage cars (other than good service history)

Entirely luck of the draw... I've lost an engine at 109k miles ( Spun rod bearing, she was an oil burner and probably was ran low on oil some point prior to my ownership ) and 89k miles ( Spark plug tip dropped off in whilst engine running )

Good fuel, good oil, frequent oil checks and not smashing 7 shades of shit out of it, it should last the lifetime of the car.

Not particularly IMO.

US poster here, but my car is at 155,000 miles and the engine is still strong. A good friend has 260,000 miles n his AP1 and his doesn't even burn any oil.

Amazing how you kept it for so long. Massive respect to you
Lots of people throw in the towel when they have kids and sell up regretting it later on.

My brother has his 1994 civic coupe. Hes had that for 11 years now, he now has a 1 year old and thinking of selling up.
I said dont do it. You will regret it, its our passion and hobby and no matter how hard life gets these things always make you smile.

totally agree, dont sell it!

that 2001 i bought in xmas 2002 with 1500 miles on it. i'd had quite a few cars prior to it and never really attached to any of them but i do like the S2 a lot. doubt i will ever sell it

the charged one is just a project but in amazing condition for a 99. you couldnt daily that though, its terrible on fuel and needs its legs stretched imho
