Honda Adrenaline Experience
Honda Adrenaline Experience - Last Saturday at Prodrive in Warwickshire.
I somehow managed to get an invite to the above event, not sure why, but its most likely due to me coming close to the end of my current car's lease, I need to order a new one in January. Anyway, I was the only S2000 driver there, and there was one CTR driver. The rest were a real mixed bunch from an RS4 owner to Laguna's, Beemers etc No-one knew why they had been invited but guessed that it may have been due to showing recent interest in a Honda.
The event was held over half a day, arriving at 8.30am and finishing at 1pm.
There were two Honda UK S2000's there but just for show.
My day began with the choice of either CRV off roading and Honda Pilots or Honda ATV's (quad's). I chose the ATV's as I had never been on one before and it sounded fun. They were brilliant, Prodrive have a quality course, the ATV's are 400cc (but limited to stop the idiots). They are plenty fast enough on the course that we were taken on which was a combination of deep wet mud, deep water (nearly a metre deep in places!) and muddy grass. The ATV's are really good fun, you can flick between 2WD and 4WD to get the backend out
, and you get a cool semi auto gearbox (or auto if you want). Quad's have come in for some bad stick recently due to some idiots driving them without the correct instruction, this is one reason why Honda now call them ATV's and not quads! Our instructor was very good, telling us exactly how to use the correct weight shift on the ATV with our body to stop it from rolling over, and within a few minutes it becomes easy. I ended the ATV's very muddy
Next up was the Autocross style circuit in CTR's. The course is very tight and you only need to use 2nd and 3rd gear. My instructor was a rally driver who was a FWD rally car expert (he professionally instructs for Prodrive). He was happy to let me drive it like I stole it and I had great fun
He did mention that he could tell that I had a RWD car since I was getting on the power a little too early coming out of some of the bends. I forgot how naff FWD really is. Yes its easy to drive, understeer was a little strange to get used to, but I found it a nightmare getting the power down, loads of wheelspin in 2nd gear and the track was dry. I also noticed how light and numb the steering felt in the CTR compared to the S. Overall though I really love the CTR, its an amazing car and great fun for the
