How frequently do you change oil?
I have always been of the belief that regular lube changes are the secret to longevity
I change mine every 3000 or sooner if it looks dirty

I used to have a Jetta...
As a nipper I did a 160 round trip each day.
I changed the oil AT LEAST every 3k.
I sold the car to my brother in law at 140k miles.
He sold it at nearly 200k.
Assume 15 quid per 5L (not expensive in this case). Thats three times the normal oil change shedule. sO over the life of the car:

Col, you've overlooked the fact that AE is life president of the I'm-inept-at-practical-stuff-so-I-pay-a-man-to-do-it-for-me Society.
(I'm also a fully paid up member of it, as well as being treasurer and secretary )
