Default How important is colour?

Hey all.

Still looking for an S2000. The selection for sale in the Republic of Ireland is still pitiful, but one has popped up in the last week that looks far better than the rest - it's a 2003 red S2000, with about 34k miles on her. Ad says she has new brake pads and an oil change done for the NCT (Irish version of the MOT).

She's selling for €9,950 which is £8,600 or so.

Only issue is that it's red - I hadn't really considered an S2000 in red previously, as I can't shake the feeling it's a little bit of a lipstick colour. Saying that, the S2000 looks fairly awesome in red, I think primarily as it's a sporty looking car so it suits it better than most.
I do know in my heart that I'd slightly prefer Berlina Black, possibly even Silverstone Silver, but this seems a cracker of a deal... I'm just looking for any experiences that red S2000 owners have had, or any advice on someone who didn't go for their #1 colour when buying.

Thanks again guys

P.S.: The ad is here: http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2555806

I don't really understand this.

Surely what matters is how important colour is to YOU.

1 - if it's red and it's a bag of crap, then it doesn't matter what colour it is, don't buy it.

2 - if it's red and it's in great condition, do you like it in red or not?

Basically, it's whether others had another colour in their head they wanted to buy, but ended up choosing a different colour... and whether there were any regrets.

I agree. I wanted MCB as my first choice and Black as my second.

I'm now the happy owner of a Silverstone one and nearly 3 years on, very content with the colour I got.

Red wasn't even considered when I was looking for my car, but after viewing dog after dog of newer Berlina Blacks and Silverslows I viewed a NFR in Exeter. It had it's hard top fitted and to be fair, looked the dogs bollocks.

From never even thinking about NFR, I now think it's the colour that best complements the cars lines.

Very subjective however there are pro's and con's to each colour. Silverstone will never be buffed up and looking amazing as it looks the same clean or dirty so low maintenance, Berlina black looks fantastic after a deays detailing but stays like that for 3 minutes and takes a lot of up keep to look good. Then there is what you have your heart set on, personally I only ever buy black cars because I think they look the best so if you have a colour you really want hang on until you find a good one in that colour. If you don't then one day you will be at a set of traffic lights waiting for it to turn green and the colour you really wanted will pull up alongside you looking amazing and you will be a bit miffed.

Personally Red wasn't even on my wish list when I was hunting, I wanted a Bermuda Blue or Moonrock failing them it then I thought I could cope with black or a nurby... but after searching and searching I found one.. a red one.. and I love it to bits. It looks stunning on a bit of a dull day as it stands out from all the neutral colours which seem to dominate car colours these days. I think it fairly reasonable to state that I certainly don't regret getting a red one at all and I'm even glad I didn't fit the perfect BB
