I'm getting tired of being in debt over a motor.....however nice/special it may be
Sell the testa then. That must cost some serious Wonga in upkeep even if the mileage is limited

As someone who is closer to 60 than 40 I can say I will still have my S at that age

mile for mile yes.......but I tend to look at montly cash flow....some people are paying out for insurance cover for the S2000 that would cover maintenance on the Fezza alone....add some finance....servicing and factor in depreciation it's a close run thing

There's no dispute that the S2000 is cheaper to run per mile

Due to it's age the Fezza is eligble for 'Classic car' insurance.......when people ask how much it costs to insure they are amazed when I say circa

Also to add. It also helps if the issuer of the draft is not Barclays Bank. Barclays bank will not verify drafts they are absolutely useless; totally out of touch with society. The imcompetence of these people beggars believe, I must have rang and spoke to 10 different people and got 10 different answers ranging from they could verify it but it would be extremely difficult and then to outright no. I ended up selling my car and just putting trust in the barclays employee on the phone telling me there was no way the draft could be forged.

Having agreed a price for the private sale of my S, the proceeds for which are to be received by way of bankers draft, I was glad to see the advice above.

However, my buyer's bank does not have local branches and from its web page, the customer services line only appears to be open Monday to Friday which is the problem as the deal is due to be done on Saturday morning. However, I am due to meet the buyer and deposit the draft with my bank prior to returning home to hand the car over.

Would my bank have any way of verifying the draft on deposit or should I be looking to change the time of the deal or the method of payment?

Are there any drawbacks with getting the money transferred in electronically i.e. is there any way it could be clawed back from my account?

I guess the best place to go for definitive answers is my own bank but I am a little anxious given the amounts involved and would like to have some idea before Tuesday which is when I'll be able to speak to them.

You could get buyer to call/email/whatever you with the numbers from the draft during the week. Then call customer services with the number so they can verify it. When you get the draft, all you have to do is check that the numbers are the same and you're sorted.
That's what the seller of my car did when I bought it from him.
