Default ICE for the S2K

I have just purchased a Silverstone with Black Trim S2k here in Somerset. One owner, 6500 miles, absolutely mint condition.

The only slight disappointment is with the stereo system. The dealers have fitted a single disc CD player in place of the original Radio/Cassette. I did not want a 6 disc changer in the boot because I could not get my golf clubs in!!!.

The problem is that the "on dash controls" do not operate the set, even though everything is connected up. (with the exception of the mute button).

Has anyone come across this problem and if so do you have a cure. All suggestions gratefully received.

Welcome to the board

Is the CD player a Honda one? Is it the same one that is in a 2002 S2000?

If it is not Honda it will not work without some sort of interface. Alpine do an interface that wires into the back of their heads. With other manufactures you have to set up an IR interface but this will only work with head units that have this sort of interface.

I would take the car back to the dealer and tell them to sort it out.

Yes, the player is a genuine Honda one, I don't know whether it is the same one as is fitted to the current model though. The dealers obtained it direct from Honda, but to be fair to them they suspected the dash controls would not work before they fitted it.

It sounds great but it is a bit annoying not to be able to use the finger tip controls.

I couldn't live without the dash controls.

If you do a search on here you should be able to find a picture of a UK spec 2002 head unit and compare it to yours. If it is a 2002 head I believe it should fit straight in and the controls should work. There are a couple of people on here I believe who have upgraded their tape units to 2002 cd players.
