My car was in for its first service on Monday and I mentioned the rumour of a recall on 00 01 wheels to the service manager, he had no knowledge of this but said it wouldn't surprise him as they'd changed plenty under warranty. They didn't know about the oil bolt/spark plug update either until a month or so after it surfaced here though, so fingers crossed for everyone with corroded wheels.

Mark Turner - simmo - if your 02 wheels are possibly corroded, are your cars U.K. or E.U. sourced? The reason I ask is that I had a replacement wheel on my 02 E.U. car due to tyre fitter damage and it had visibly more lacquer on it than the other 3. I just wonder if 02 U.K. wheels finally solve the problem or if I just got a strange wheel with more lacquer on it

Welcome Phillip hope you have a tin helmet

Phillip i forgot to ask - do you have an s2k yourself?

Also how about giving out some calling cards to this site to all your s2k customers?

For me to take a Honda dealer seriously about the S2000, you need to answer the following questions correctly:

1. Does the car need to be run in - if so, what is the max revs and how many miles.
2. What grade of oil is put in the car when it is new.
3. Why were the spark plugs replaced and an oil bolt replaced under warranty.
4. What is the correct tyre size front and rear on the OEM tyre (and what is the correct tyre designation).
5. What are the differences between pre 2002 models and 2002/2003 models.
6. What is the dealer margin on a new S2000.

Have a go.

UK supplied in my case, MD. I'm really not too sure what I'm looking for in terms of corrosion, so it could just be REALLY hard-to-shift ingrained brake dust. But it seemed to me to be a bit more than that. I guess I'd need someone who had seen corrosion on a pre MY02 wheel to have a look and tell me whether it's the same. Unfortunately, I don't have a digicam otherwise I'd stick something up on here.

Mark, look for the edge of the spokes (nearest the discs) looking like a mouse has been nibbling at them and check for paint bubbling on the flat sides of the spokes.

Some pics of my previous wheels here if it helps. Apparently mine were not bad compared to some the dealer had seen!

doug, good question!!!
1. run the car in for 600 miles, no harsh braking no harsh accelarating, hard i know!!
2.we put in shell helix semi synthetic
3.because there was an issue with the oil being spread evenly around the engine
4.cant remember
5. stiffer chassis, glass rear screen, chrome touches to the rear brake cluster, cd player, better clolour choice
6. that would be telling!!!!!!!!! NOT ENOUGH!

Phillip, are you able to arrange discount at all ?
I'd guess a lot of people here would be interested in eg. boot/lip spoilers. It could mean quite a lot of business your way.

Thanks for contributing and offering info direct from Honda.
