Default I'm out

I have decided to sell my 57 plate s2000. Its in Royal Navy Blue, GT, with aftermarket Alpine iPod Bluetooth headunit - 104 BTi. It has about 25k on the clock.

No real damage, couple of stone chips and a few surface scratches you might expect with the standard Honda breath on it and it marks paint. Wheels are all unmarked.

Basically I am completely hacked off with the fact that the dealer network is so lousy. Car runs out of warranty on Wednesday and now the roof has ripped. Decided to go for something more reliable and where the dealers aren't trained in the Gerald Ratner school of customer care (I know there are a couple of highly rated dealers on here and I am excluding you from my general rant - sorry, but you are all a bit far away!) Add in that the warranty is about to expire and on the basis that the aftermarket warranty may or may not be as good as the original and the original ain't great then I am out. Increasing issues with insurance costs just add to to my dissatisfaction.

Anyway the question is any ideas on value (with roof replaced). I am thinking £16k looking at Pistonheads and Autotrader. That allows me to move to a VXR or Boxster (or Boxster S with a bit of extra cash). This does seem to be a bit too good to be true however. Admittedly both replacements are 55 plates or thereabouts with similar mileages. Do you think that £16k for the s2k sounds right or am I been optimistic?

Thanks

Stuart

s2000 is a great car you could always use a good independent dealer like GArage R closer to you.

They will probably do a better job than most local dealerships

Thanks Mugen, Greg and Mjb. I though £16k might be a bit too good but was hopeful looking at the classifieds.

Thought about the Indy v stealer. Issue is that I don't trust this car not to fall apart as it does seem very poorly made compared to other cars I have owned (even my old CRX) and my understanding is that the aftermarket warranty ties you into the HUK network which I am no longer prepared to use. Because of the build quality I don't feel comfortable running without a warranty.

It's a shame because they are nice cars, just with no attention to build quality or aftersales.

I do agree with you one trusting the car, mine is a 2001 but I just feel like it will fall apart or break. It is the only car I have ever owned where I have taken out RAC breakdown cover on it for peace of mind.

As others have said we are moving into autumn and it isn't the perfect time for selling soft tops.

It's also a buyer's market out there and unless you price your car competitively you will not sell it.

Good luck.

Good luck with the sale! Not finding it easy to shift mine.. has been 2 weeks on pistonheads and have mostly had people asking about p/x'ing their cars or timewaster who are interesting in viewing and then change their mind

Not sure if its time of year, people feeling financially insecure or whether theres something putting them off the car

cant agree on the "car falling to bits" comments
what specificaly has gone wrong? i have had mine 6 years with one fault in that time. i would think moving from Honda to Vauxhaul is deffinately a step backwards in terms of reliabillity.
