Default Immobilser stuck ON !

Hi !

I picked up my brand new S2000 from Holland on Saturday a hitch and tucked it away safely in the garage.

BUT

this morning I came to start it so that I could get a alarm fitted and registered - the blo**dy thing did not start. The immobiler was stuck ON.

The very nice man from the AA towed us to the local Honda dealer in Ascot. And then the bl**dy thing worked fine.

Now having read a couple of previous thread wrt immobilsers and dead-spots - I'm sure this is not applicable here as I started the car in the garage the previous day without any problems.

The car remains at the garage until Friday having the alarm fiited.

Can anyone shed any light on this or I am just very unlucky??

Ta muchly

Richie

I had many problems because of interferences between the radios system at the hospital I work and my keys when I first had the car. There were many times I stood in the car park cursing when I couldn't get in the car.

I took it back to the dealers and they said it was a well known problem.

Since then I have locked the car rather than set the alram and all has been well.

This may not be your problem as you don't have an alarm fitted yet but do you live near to a hospital, ambulance station or police station?

I hope the car was flat bedded as towing it may cause damage to the limited slip differential

You don't necessarily have to live near a hospital or whatever.

Anywhere where there is a large radio signal can drown out car alarm remotes - as anyone who has parked in the multistorey at Heathrow might know!

Maybe someone is operating a transmitter in the area and it's swamping your signal? If it's occasional transmitting it could be quite hard to pin down

The immobiliser is nothing to do with the remote if you have no alarm. Have you tried to use a different key? IIRC you should have two regular and a valance key, all of which should start the car. It is likely to be a fault in either the key, or the ignition switch. This could be related to the ignition switch recall.
