Default Important ICE developments

Feeling quite pleased with myself ...

I wrote to Blaupunkt's technical department last week asking if they might be interested in producing any interfaces/adapters that would operate the S2000's dash controls as I am interested in one of their Woodstock DAB units.

Guess what? The technical manager only drives an S himself !! (slow colour though ... Nurby Blue )

Below is my reply and his original email response. Makes interesting reading as he talks about a 3rd party that can knock up adapters to work the dash controls. My letter referred to the forum here and, as you will read, he came and took a look.

Read on ...

David

Hmm ... a O2 Nurby Blue. See you went for one of the slow colours then !!

I will post your reply (if you don't object) on the UK Owners forum of S2Ki.com. Glad you managed to visit and as you say, there is a lot of useful information for S2000 owners. We usually try to "group buy" any interfaces or parts that have to be specially manufactured or imported in an attempt to bring the unit cost down.

I'd be interested in finding out more about your MP3 Microdrive (albeit I accept it is discontinued). However, was I right in assuming that MP3 files could be played back on the Woodstock via the MMC card? I have a 256Mb card in my Nokia phone, and if they don't yet do 512Mb or 1Gb versions, I'm sure they will soon. For compactness and convenience, I'd prefer to use a card like this rather than an iPod interface, (I've resisted an iPod so far ... you're suggestion is getting my wallet twitching again!) but can the Woodstock cope with cards of that size?

Perhaps the best way to follow this up is via the forum, as other owners can have their two penneth as well. My forum name is Shiskine but let me know yours by email and I can look out for your postings.

Thanks for your reply

David

Good result

It's a shame Goodyear weren't so forthcoming. Even a reply saying "no we don't do the tyres, now sod off" would have been nice

Note though that he refers to a 3rd party that make adapters for Blaupunkt and other manufacturers. We may have finally found a near universal solution ...

It'll be interesting to see what comes of this.

Shiskine, we need to talk;

I am using a Blaupunkt DAB52 in my S2000, I have it interfaced to my iPod using the ice-link, I may well be selling the lot soon as I am looking at a more upbeat Alpine bitsa kit.

PM me with your phone number and we can talk a little more, I can give you an insite into what barriers I have hit and how I got around them else, maybe we can do a deal on my complete system including a 5Gb iPod? and AM/FM ariel

On the DAB front, it is very addictive but has the flaw of needing good reception

He must have if he thinks a Berlina is faster than a Nurby!
