Just noticed this whilst browsing S2Ks for sale...

I've got a late Evo VI GSR, before that I had an ITR and also test-drove an Impreza P1. Frankly, there is little comparison between the Mitsi and the Subaru in my experience. The Evo is just more of a driver's car, the P1, supposedly the best (UK) Impreza, was supposed to match an Evo but be more refined and in fact is just boring with crap brakes.

If you've never driven one, it's totally different to VTEC, the power is in a completely different place and the torque is just something else. There's no point comparing speed and acceleration, it's a different league. But then, so are the running costs. I get about 22mpg, the insurance is a joke (albeit an expensive one on me), servicing is every 4500 miles (getting on for

with all the comments above, except about the P1.

Find a P1 with the WR upgrade and the brakes are superb.

Servicing and fuel are hugely expensive, every time my Scooby went to the dealers it was

My mates got an Evo 7 FQ 300 - awesome car, great power and sounds really monsterous. The only downside to ownership are the running costs.

Neither for me as I think they look twatful (IMHO)..P1 I drove was pretty awesome around Bedford (except the tight hairpin where the S2000 mullered it, oversteer being a boon here )

But after two laps (admittedley it was doing two laps with everyone who signed up for a drive) its brakes were literally on fire!!

If it had to be 4wd & 280+ Bhp with a tin-top it would be a 3 year old S3 after a day at MTM and the 300 Bhp upgrade .

Or if the

I'd go for the Evo of the two cars. But, 20k will also get you a J-spec R34 or a very well spec'd R33-GTR. Now that is a motor!

Ahhhh my cousins just traded his RB5 (Prodrive) Impreza for the new '04 STI-1 of 500. I have never really taken to any 4dr rally bred motors but I have to say I was very impressed by his new toy.

The cars on delivery miles and obviously running in at the mo, so can't vouch for performance at this stage, though if the RB5 was anything to go by, this has approx 50bhp up on that car, and that was bloody quick, so this should play ball with the super cars, as its approx 300 bhp/300 torque!

One of the features he showed me , was the clever programmable weight distibutor for the diff. This allows selection of all 4wd, or 70/30 etc, weight split throughout the car. Also you can set the electronic rev limiter LED to any RPM across the range so that it blips at 4.5k whilst running in, and anywhere in the red once a few miles have been covered (could be handy on the S over running in period ) The Impreza also has the water injection button as do the majority so you can spray ice cold water over the intercooler...I think?
+ they come with Trackers as std, and a gorgeous exhaust note!

A very sorted motor indeed!
