Default Installing Alpine Stereo

Hi guys,

In the process of finally installing my Alpine HU, have removed the old one easily enough and promptly threw it in the bin for being so cheap and nasty!

Now, I'm not sure about what I need, I want the steering controls to be functional aswell for the basic volume/station controls.

If I buy these:

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/29629-stee...tor-p-4186.html
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/incartec-a...tor-p-3481.html

or these:

http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product...?partno=PC99X61
http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product...?partno=PC99ALP

Do I need one of these still (or cheaper alternative from eBay):

Any help appreciated before I go ordering parts!

Also, running a power cable to the headunit, I heard theres a way in through a grommet behind the battery, correct? I'll also be running another power cable to the boot at some point for an amp and speaker setup soon!

Cheers
James

There's an ebay dash adapter, Shiskine has it in his sig. You need one of those

Also you need the ISO - Honda adapter (the last link) and an aerial adapter ISO-Din

Think that's it

This was my Alpine about to be fitted - don't ask me what the various bits do as it was a long time ago

I recently fitted an Alpine iDA 100 into my car. For that hu I used the ICT29629 and the Incartec Alpine adaptors, but also needed an aerial adaptor despite CAD telling me I didn't need one (it's dependant on the age of your car apparently).
Take care with the adaptors though - CAD sent me an incorrectly wired one which I didn't notice until I'd tried to fit the unit. They were less than helpful in sorting the problem!!
Hope this helps .

Forget any of the above, what you need are Modifry's wired DCI and Plug n play harness.

The DCI retains all the normal controls and provides additional ones too - track/preset/search up/down, ff/rw tracks and even the option to auto adjust your volume as your speed increases/decreases (requires 1 spliced wire).
The Plug n play harness connects the Honda wire harness to the said DCI to the Alpine HU directly with no need to splice any wires. Makes the install VERY simple.

Modifry's a well known member of this forum with many, many happy customers of the above - including me. May work out slightly more expensive, but def worth it imo.

Linky!

Oh, and correct, you can route an amp power cable through a grommet behind the bettery.

Another vote for Modifry.
But, a lot more expensive due to the exchange rate.
Good service though, had a shipping quote in one day, paid and had delivery in three days. No tax or vat bills to pay either.
Worth the little extra.

I have a newer ISO fitted car so have all the old leads in the photo above. Will sell the harness, fusebox etc really cheap if anyone needs them. I plugged ISO adapter right into the rear of the HU.

PM me.

Cheers for the help guys, appreciated! The Modifry looks like a good option if thats the only part you need.

But I've just done some research on my Headunit (Alpine 7876RB) and due to it's age (think I got it in 2002) I don't think it's compatible with the steering remote control which is a bit annoying

Cheers

The age of the car has far call to do with which adapter you need - it has allot more to do with where it's manufactured

tn you dont have all that buf behind the dash. modifry's kit is byfar the best and his service and dedication to the customer is superb.
