Default Installing new front speakers - help!

Hello,

I have bought some new component speakers and have removed the door panel to perform the install. I was expecting to find the crossover units somewhere in the door with a single pair of cables running to it, but it's obviously somewhere else as there is two pairs of cables, one pair for the tweeters and one pair for the woofers.

I want to use the crossovers supplied with the speakers. Does anybody know if there is an easy place to get to the wires coming out of the HU without installing completely new cable runs?

Cheers Craig

Good move buying components
Bad move even thinking about using Honda crossovers!
Your speakers should have come with much better quality crossovers.
Use those!

The cross over is a passive blocker tucked up within the door I think. I did not pay much attention as its pointless using the existing wiring or cross over for your new speakers. Its easy to run new decent speaker cable through the existing sheath of wires entering the door.

Or you do is unplug the bundle of wires from the socket hidden behind the kick panel. Then pull the grommets and bundle of cables through into the door, one grommet hole at a time. Then spray silicon grease or WD40 onto the new speaker cables, trim back the electrical tape blocking off access to the plastic piping which surround the bundle of cables, and push the new cables in there as well.

Then re work the wires and grommets back into position - be prepared to lose some knuckle skin (make sure the windows is up, then you only have to worry about the window guide digging into your hand as you struggle within the door)

Clearer instructions are on the Electronics Forum FAQ IIRC.

Forgot to mention this ICE thing is a slippery slope.
Expect to be looking at amps and the like very shortly!

When I did Budgie's set up I also lubed the grommets, makes the whole process much less painful
