I've just been speaking to Footman James Insurance about my renewal on the Elise, but got talking about what they offer in general.
They specialise in classic cars and are the most competitive in the UK for that market.
I enquired about S2000s and they said that an S2000 is classed as a classic once it is 10 years or older.
One to consider for all of those with older models out there.

I just spoke to footman james, asked about the classic car insurance, they said they only have 1 company that does that and it'd have to be your 2nd car and only driving less than 6000 miles a year, which is no good for me as its going to be my daily driver.

my best so far - sky insurance 550
34yrs old, 14yrs NCB, driveway, standard car, with protected no claims and usual cover.. the hunt continues as the premiums have definitely gone up.. sometimes think it depends on who you've got on the phone!

Interesting variation of quotes guys.
From my previous findings in this thread you will notice the best I could get was £690 as a 40 year old with 8 years + no claims, good post code , no mods and kept in a private drive. The only difference may be the cars value (??). Huge variances!!
As a top tip add someone to your insurance who is older with a good record. That can make a bit of difference!!

21 years old
4 years driving
2 years no claims
kept in residential parking area
02 plate gt with aftermarket wheels
1246 on admiral multicar. the wheels (rota slips) added 60 odd quid.
i thought this price was a ****** steal to be quite honest aha.

I've just renewed the Elise with Admiral.
Interestingly, I had 4 or 5 quotes from Admiral which were all generated by the online search engine companies such as Compare the market/Go Compare etc.
The details were exactly the same for each quote, but the premiums differed by some £60.
Admiral's site holds all quotes generated and you can access them via their site. I did just this to check all details were the same which they were.
Premiums were still different so maybe certain sites generate lower quotes, even a quote done directly on Admiral's site was more expensive than the quote generated by Compare the market.
Not all Admirals are the same it would appear, so it pays to try different methods to generate your quotes.

I've just finalised the renewal with SKYinsurance. To be fair they seem pretty good and i've got it down to £525. ChrisKnotts were close but seemed to load the policy with exclusions on renewal and adrian flux couldn't beat at all, so sky gets my business. I dealt with a guy called Alex and i believe Ollie posts on here but is not in anyway a 'sales' led poster.. Lets hope the policy docs come in order and all will be good..
