Just got my insurance from sky for £780. 26 years old, 6 years NCD, Car parked on roadway.
Saved myself a nice £200 (well near enough) . My renewal from admiral was £ 970.
Cant speak highly enough of sky insurance the procedure was a breeze, dealt with Robert, they tried everything to reduce the premiums by asking for things such as:
Previous car history, realistic annual mileage, occupation etc. (mostly standard questions) but it actually felt like they were trying to reduce the premiums I know its there job however they did take previous cars owned into account - had a megane sport before this.
Had quotes from the usual "go to" places such as Adrian Flux, Chris Knott, Green light and even tried comparison sites. The cheapest I could get there was £820, so for me there was no choice.
Overall would highly recommend sky insurance!

Admiral's renewal was 15% lower than last year's quote at £380 for me, most crucially with just £100 excess (which is very important now the car is worth so little).
Also includes modifications and a guaranteed hire car.
44, loads of (protected) NCD, garaged, social use only.
I did have quotes as low as £270 or so, but those carried a £500 excess.
Sky and the other specialists could not get anywhere near those prices or excess.

now parked on a driveway instead of the street, yet some how my insurance has gone up by £376!

The only logical explanation I can think of is because many cars are stolen nowadays after the home is broken into and the keys pinched, so if your car is in the drive, the toe rags know which house to break into. I understand the same inverse logic applies to keeping it in a garage as a garage gives them a lit, dry place to break into the car unobserved than if it is on the street.

This is true. Similar to the false logic that as a homeowner and having a family will make you more cautious.
There must be statistics on this stuff though otherwise it wouldn't apply. The removal of gender certainty made things complicated as there is a clear statically difference between gender risks.
