Insurance Question
I think you know the answer to this one - you tell them she is the main driver but it is infact you .....
Knowingly making a false statement when taking out an insurance policy is an offence and will invalidate any policy if they found out ..... the merest hint of you trying to be cute can result in all kinds of grief if you had to claim.

Cant you just register the car in her name and they wont know anything different? As far as the insurance company are aware its your mums car and you are just driving it occasionally...I guess you can insure another crappy car on your own for pittance a year to build up a no claims bonus..
Im no insurance expert though..

P.s.Why bother insuring the Vectra fully comp? If your just trying to build up your no claims then just insure it third party only...Oh my god my scheming mind!!

I don't expect them to pay its just illegal to drive without it! I would go third party but you can't build no claims on it so it would never get cheaper
This basically means that you would be driving uninsured, it's not a grey area. What you are suggesting albeit seems minor is fraud.
I'm absolutely convinced you can build NCD on TPFT what makes you think you can't? Have you got confirmation of that from your insurers?

I don't think they give you no claims on 3rd party

/As for the original question, obviously you shouldn't do that. However if two people use a car the concept of "main driver" is a bit difficult to prove either way. But you have to admit it'll look pretty suspiscious.

ive only ever had TPFT until i bought my S2000 , i have full no claims bonus and have never had a problem, ive been insured for 18years
insurance companies will know all the tricks in the book ,a whiff of fraud will cause you no end of problems and could get very expensive
do it if you think you can get away with it but i suspect you wouldnt be happy driving like this otherwise you wouldnt have asked the question.
