Default Interesting ecounter with PC Plod

I was on my way to work...........and was being followed by a Police V70......it was a 40 limit and I was doing around 43/44............there was no traffic in front or behind and this continued for around 2 miles.....gradually my speed increased to an indicated 47mph..........no reaction from the police

makes me wonder how accurate the speedo is?

Anyways we approach a roundabout for which I slow for.......on the exit as the V70 followed me through I applied too much power and as I crossed over the point at which the camber changes I generated a very moderate powerslide....at most the rear stepped out by 6 inches.....it might have felt more that it actually was

After I'd recovered the car I accelerated gently to 30mph and held up my hand to kind of acknowledge what had happened.........then the blue lights come on and I indicate left ready for the invetiable pull and lecture..........the V70 overtakes me.....blue lights go off and he goes off into the distance

wtf was that all about?

Dunno - sounds like you did the right thing though.

They may have had a call to a job ?

According to the road angel the speedo is 2mph out at 45mph. ie when it reads 45, you're actually doing 43.

Speedo is probably over-reading by 2-3 mph at 40.

Either he was deliberately just trying to put the wind up you or it was coincidental timing and he had a call to be somewhere else at the time you let the back end step out....

I know those RWS skip moments. I try to generate then whenever possible!

I don't know how obvious it looks from outside the car, though.

He was either rushing for coffee break, or just trying to wind you up.

makes me wonder how noticeable a moderate slide actually is from outside the car?........

I would like to think it highlights the fact that it's infinately more preferable to have policemen patrolling the roads than cameras......he'd been following me for atleast 4 miles and in that time I hope I was demonstrating good awareness....i.e I was keeping to the limit and I was driving with consideration for the conditions

It was obvious that on the exit of the roundabout that I'd got caught out a little.....it would be nice to think that they'd made a judgement based on what they'd seen of my driving that I'd made a simple driver error......corrected it....acknowledged the fact....

and therefore been given a 'blue light' slap on the wrists....."be careful sir...it's wet this morning"

I know what it was. He had to go and put more film in the scamera 2 miles down the road, he'd been radio'd urgently by HQ, that the scamera had run out.
