The IRISH Thread

Sounds like you have the Hamilton Palmer unit, theres a pic in this thread..

To cut a long story short they are meant to be pretty crap, would you consider replacing with a new alarm, and then you could get the boot popper with it?
Or another option is to ring Hamilton Palmer and get them to send another fob, might be cheaper then Honda dealer, dont know if the boot pop could be added to the existing alarm, prob not without more wiring I guess

Some bad news.
Bit of a smash last night. I'm fine. No other people/cars involved thankfully.
Still, I'm gutted. Love this car.
However, I'll be needing at least the following:
2 Wings, Bumper, Bonnet, front "slam" panel I'm told its called, headlights,.. probably a radiator, and more- bonnet was jammed and couldn't see any leaking fluid so didn't force it open yet in case couldn't get it closed again before driving home - which I was able to do after pulling back some of the front frame work from the wheel-well. Happened late last night so havn't had a chance to inspect yet. Passenger wing fairly jammed back to the door but hopeful the door isn't damaged.
Regardless I reckon I'll not see change out of €5000 for parts/labour, at least I go with all new parts. I'm in two minds as to whether to use insurance or not yet - have Step Back NCB, so with a €600 excess, and the extra premium across 2years it would probably cost me ~€2000 total at a guess... plus the effect on my 2nd policy which has the bonus mirrored...
My worry is however that they might refuse to cover the car at all come renewal due to the risk profile as a whole - and nobody else will cover me (either due to the car, my age or my penalty points) - and they certainly wouldn't with a claim under my belt ( first in nearly 9 years driving though so not bad given I started young...). There's always XSDirect but I don't want to rely on them being around forever.
All that said, the repair costs are likely to be substantial, at least without devoting a lot of time to it, time which I don't really have, at least not when I'd need it - i.e. business hours...
So I'm looking for recommendations on the following if you can help:
-A garage to do the full repair if I was to go the insurance route (somewhere trustworthy that can do both bodywork & parts/mechanical...
-Bodywork/Panel Beaters if I was to try to pull everything off and replace the mechanical stuff myself. It will need to be chassis checked also - I don't think its damaged but don't know... could be suspension damage also...
-Parts places / places for panels etc. Traynors have no front end stuff. Have a friend up North looking for me, and found a couple of wings on Ebay UK.
Does anyone know for sure if the 00-03 and 04+ Wings/Bonnet are the same?
This would make it easier to get parts, and could make Nikki's car an option if she were to get it back any time soon...
All the above said I'm tempted to bit the bullet and go through the insurance... they'll still have made a massive profit off me since I started driving.
