Well if you do then buy it!

Seriously though - great engine. I specifically hunted it out when buying - economy and decent (for a 1.5) poke - though having the S and the other Civic for fun this one was driven like a grandad 99% of the time for the sake of fuel economy and as a stress free commuter mobile.

Hey lads, anyone have any experience appealing VRT on a 2003 S2K and possibly have any backup material (ads etc) they can send on to verify the dispute?

According to VRT.ie the OMSP for a 2003 GT is just under 20 grand with VRT coming to about 7 grand. Considering there's a very clean 2004 s2k on carzone at the moment for 12k it seems criminal that they can try and claim an 03 is selling for 20 grand here

I did it for a 2001, it was roughly 6k and i got 2k back. You just prove that the OMSP isn't as it should be, mine was a JDM which was charged more than a UKDM (which is spec'd higher) so i used that as my example. Unfortunately there aren't many 02-04's for sale out there to show the markets price so they can and will choose the pre recession prices.

That's great news - I'm guessing my immaculate 07 with less than 10k kms must be valued at €30,0000 on that basis - if I just rock up to the VRT office will they buy it off me there and then?

The ad for mine is still up, I got her for less than asking price but this might help you.

For almost a year I thought I'd have to import and dispute the VRT so I've kept webpages from every S2000 ad that would help my case. If you do buy it, let me know and I'll email you all the pages I've saved. S2000's come up so rarely (esp 01+) that you have to nab anything you can.

Cheers Jimmy, I'll drop you a pm about those ads if you can send them on. I was actually so tempted to go for that red s2k myself. It's the best deal i've seen over the last year as well, I was just put off by the colour and didn't want to go down the route of a respray. I'm going to organise a viewing of this http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2612121

I was hoping for an 03-05 but apparently that one is really clean and well looked after and it has some very nice upgrades and work done on it so I'm happy to compromise a bit if it means getting my hands on a genuinely well kept car.

Yup that one is very tidy and well looked after by current and previous owners. Simon is occasionally still on here, not sure about Roy. A lot of original parts with it too if the aftermarket pieces dont take your fancy you can take them off and sell them on, they'll sell super quick if priced right. Id say there actually isn't very many of those years in Ireland and the fact they're not worth very much means people would be reluctant to take the hit. I know i've no intention of selling as it is either!

I believe the previous owner is on the Octane.ie forum and leftfootbraking has posted it on there for Roy

I seen it in the flesh over the summer and it's definitely worth looking at.

As for the VRT calculator.....it's a proper joke! It says my 2008 GT is worth 40,000 Euro!
