Its a UK import, try the Aviva quote online and put down a partner on it, reduces it by a lot!

Theres a lot of different subjects discussed here alright but I dont think there would be enough people posting to have our own section......

We have full use of the S2KUK forums here on S2KI.
The Irish Thread is more for chatting and haning out (introductions etc)
If you feel anything needs it's own thread there's nothing to stop any of us opening one, just stick Irish Owners in the title and you'll get responses.
You can then stick a link to that thread here and on the Honda S2000 Owners - Ireland Facebook page that's linked in my sig to get more exposure to your thread.

i must check out the Facebook page later, FB is blocked in the office..

It’s just that some of the info in the last 2 pages alone, i fell deserve their own thread.. Even if they are short ones, they will still provide decent info that relates to Irish sk2 owners. And I’m sure with 1900 posts in there that there is potentially some valuable info that i do not know about my newly acquired s2k. especially the conversation about VRT in the last page

It’s that time of year again when the car insurance renewal comes in the door and it was 1100 through AIB (underwritten by Aviva)

So I thought Id have a ring around, 123.ie wouldn’t insure me as it’s a 'high performance car', not a great start!!

So tried with Aviva directly, fully comp for me and a 'partner'....and it was €680.....delighted so I was, I quickly took the quote.

Might be of some interest to others looking for insurance (I’m 26 with 7yrs no claims, no penalty points)
Nice one mate, got mine a few weeks ago 1080 with Axa. Must ring about and see whats what. Is yours a JDM?
I went for Aviva aswell when I bought the car, €950 in the end which is pretty good going I guess.I'll be points free in a few months so that'll help come next renewal

Some interesting quotes:

Aviva: 2500 fully comp or 1950 TPFT.

Everyone else - won't quote.

XSDirect will only quote me on a Type V car and not the standard car.

Either way it won't be until March that the car is insured so it might go down by then. Slightly depressing results so far but at least I can get some sort of quote.

The irish thread was mainly for a bit of banter and some general help if people are stuck. We dont have enough regular users to warrant seperate threads all the time. most of our stuff here if were really stuck can be done over txt message such is the amount of regular users we have.

There is a seperate meet thread in the meets section for our monthly meet...

Monthly meet....

€650 fully comp - about the only advantage of being ancient!

I have a buddy who claims that Motor Tax is going to be changed in the budget so that all cars are going to be taxed on the basis of emmissions - says it is an EU requirement! I've searched online but have found nothing. Anyone here heard anything about this?

If it is the case the S2000 will be in the €2k+ bracket so I hope he's talking crap!

Would be very surprised if that happens. That would put millions of cars off the road across Europe at a time when the Eurozone needs as much revenue from motoring as possible.

Unless the tax rate per emissions bracket becomes a Euro standard rate, which will be allot lower than any Irish tax rate. I can't see anyone in the UK, France or Germany happily paying €2000 a year tax.
