Cant say what caused it perhaps something loose, but the price is a joke the sensor will be expensive for the air bypass box.
Invest in a code reader you could save a small fortune, but in the predictament/situation you were in I can understand TBH.

I guess the IAT sensor has come lose, got wedged between the serpentine belt and a pulley causing it to jump off.
Which would have been down to who fitted the K&N
