Default Jap Models

Can anyone help me please?

Has anyone with a Jap Spec S2K successfully registered it with Honda for warranty work? If so what documentation did you have to provide?

I am of the understanding that the following documentation is all I need

SVA Certificate
Registration Document
Service History
Sales Invoice

I'm going to a Honda dealer tommorow and the guy said he is going to send the information to Honda UK, and they will let him know if it needs more information.

I don't want to spend ages going back and forwards between the dealer and Honda UK so do I need anything else?

Mark,

I wish you luck but Im pretty sure Honda UK will not perform any warranty work on a Jap Import as they are not covered by warranty.

The dealerships dont have a problem working on Jap cars but I would expect them to want to charge you for any work they carry out.

Let us know how you get on.

Be very careful, normally the main agents are not interested at all in imported models. I dont think that grey imports are covered by the uk warranties.

good luck

Mark, I too have a Jap import. Its awaiting its SVA.
A friend of mine works @ Honda. He said they will happily maintain it and that it differs in no significant (expensive) way from the UK version. This was why I was comfortable with an import.

Honda will only honour European warranties. You can buy off the shelf warranties which would save all the hassle with Honda.

Mark, you mention the speedo, assume it is showing Kilometres rather than Miles on the euro cars there is a button in the bottom right corner of the digital display that switches between kilometres and miles.

Not sure if you already knew...

Yeah, Honda have no problem working on the car. Have had a few dealers who throw up the hands and renounce all responsibility as soon as you mention 'import'.

I have got a warranty for the car but I'd rather have Honda do the work.

No nothing like that. I had it switch to MPH before I brought it. Although I don't seem to be able to change it back at the touch of a button. Is this the button near the one that resets the trip counters?

My speedo problem is that it doesn't keep up with the car when I accelerate fast. It use to throw a wobbly every now and then and display what ever speed it wanted to, but that seems to have disappeared now.

Mark:
I took out a separate warranty (independent) for my jap import MR2. For non-warranty work, my local Toyota dealer couldn't have been more polite and helpful, although I got charged the going rate obviously. Did you ever check out the rear of those JDM wheels for me?

yes. To the untrained eye (me) they seem the same on the back as the front. I rubbed the back of the spokes and they look the same color and have the same smooth feel.
