JDM Stereo

JDM Stereo
Hi,
I've got a spare Honda Stereo and I wondered if there is anything special/collectable about them? Obviously the wheels are much sought after, but probably because they're lighter (and better??).
Anyway, I've got a JDM radio, which picks up UK stations but on different numbers - like 82.3 for radio one (rough example). Is it rubbish? I can't find anything on auction websites to compare to.
Cheers ppls

I seem to remember that the frequency range of JDM stereos doesn't cover the full range of UK frequencies, so is not really any good over here for a lot of channels.
The rest of the frequency range in Japan is reserved for their TV signal, so as such it isn't covered on a car stereo.
I think I've got that right. It's been a while since I read up on it.

You're right that the frequency is different. I believe that their frequency wouldn't pick up any UK radio channels, unless it is modified.
Before I replaced it, it picked up all FM channels so I'm lead to believe it has been modified.

I can't remember what mine picked up, as I replaced it straight away.
I do know that I tried to sell it for a fiver at the time, and nobody wanted it. I've still got it in a cupboard somewhere.

Doesn't the jap unit pick up different frequency ranges? ie where ours are multiples of 0.05 the jump at a different rate.? and have a smaller bandwidth.

It means it will skip some stations and the "expander" will make it worse by increasing the gap.
For the cost of a single DIN UK head unit I'd bin the JDM one!
