Default Jealous behaviour

Has anyone had similar experiences??

I went away for the bank holiday weekend stayed at a nice hotel, the manager told me on the phone prior to booking there was ample secure parking at the hotel. Turns out it's only a small driveway just of the main road big enough for two cars!
Well i think its better than parking on the street.
So i leave the car there on the Saturday and after a night out i give it a quick check on the way back in and it looks ok, get up in the morning and go out to the car and there's fag ash all over the roof down the back window and over the drivers back quarter panel! Looks like someone has been having a smoking party over my car!
I know it could have been lot worse but it still took the shine of the weekend and the fact i was paranoid something else was going to happen to it on the Sunday night didn’t help ether!
Anyway after talking to the hotel manager we can only put it down to jealous individuals taking a shine to my car ……. Sometime the S gets the wrong type of attention and no surprise I wont be going back there again!

There may be nothing to it regarding your car, a lot of smokers (not all) are quite inconsiderate about disposing of their debris.

It may just mean the ground ashtray was full at the time and where your car was sitting at the time was a suitable alternative!

I once came out of B&Q to find someone sitting on my wing talking to his mate and I got a dirty look for asking him to move his arse!

Nightmare, could have been allot worse though. There are some proper idiots out there. It seems to be a "I can't have it....so I'll wreck it" kind of attidude.

Someone slashed my roof with a knife when I was at the cinema once. On another occasion, someone actually kicked my car as I slowed down to let them past, luckily I had a big guy in the passenger seat, safe to say they will NEVER do it again! Hope Karma works in your favour eventually ........thing is these people will never have anything worth damaging themselves (guess that's karma in itself!)

Annoying as it is, cars can be fixed, losers will always be losers

Take pleasure in their pain

I can add one to that. Not long after I got mine, I took it to a friend's in Manchester, only for someone to kick the passenger mirror off outside his house. I know it was kicked off because there was a footprint on the mirror.

It's said quite rightly here, some people are very much in the mindset of 'its not mine, so I don't have to care about it'. And also rightly said, those people are loosers.

Came out of an indian restaurant with Sister and BIL and found vomit down the side of their Porsche and my S. We believe that someone had thrown up whilst in a passing vehicle - nothing to do with the cars but at the time it felt personal.

A little bit of fag ash is hardly someone being jealous.

Probably smoking on a balcony / patio / something nearby and it was blown there.

If someone was jealous enough to do something, I'm sure it would have been keyed or similar.

OP, you need to stop being so paranoid about your car

I am always very careful about where I park my car (avoiding door dents, etc) but a bit of fag ash is hardly vandalism

Cars often represent much more than "just a car" to some people, I get that

But there are many tossers out there who will damage pretty much anything just for the sake of it

In this case though, I don't think you (or your S) have been targeted

I think everyone on this site knows and shares your pain. You have to make sensible decisions about where you park, and in some cases just face up to the fact that once in a while these things might happen.
Could the ash be from a nearby smoking area and getting blown on to your car by the high winds?

I've had my car 9 months now and thus far I've had a door panel dent (£240 repair), key scratch (£60) and some feck stole my aerial (£180). I also went out at Christmas and was driving, so left the pub early 10pm to find some scroat peering in my passenger window in a well-lit secure public car park about to punch my window thru. I never caught the guy but got a good look at him and ever since I’ve been scouring the pubs and clubs for him. Admittedly it’s become a bit of an obsession, but I’m sure it’s perfectly healthy.

Have you thought about a trunk monkey? they're expensive to keep and requires some modifications to your car (mainly breathing holes), but in my mind they're well worth the money and hassle. Just remember to put a 4 point harness in the boot for the little guy before you thrash your car, otherwise you'll have to dispose of an exotic animal and apparently the authorities don’t take kindly to dead monkeys in laybys.
