Default K20/24 swap s2000…UK first? rock bottom to HOPE

Hi Everyone,

I posted here back in July - when there was still every finger crossed for my recently acquired s2000…. I’m now at rock bottom.

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/uk-irela...build-1186090/

1). Bought my first ever Handa S2000 (getting a big loan out to be able to do so) FSH with Honda and 79k on the clock - LIVING THE DREAM

2). 1 week later spun a bearing on my first long trip in the car (just 200 miles after purchase …..private purchase).

3). I had the car recovered to a garage who decided they couldn’t diagnose it.

4). I had a company transport the car from there to my house - they used the towing eye and winched very off centre, snapping the towing eye and smashing my bumper.

5). The transport company didn’t have any insurance and once I told them how much it would cost them to replace… they started ignoring me…. I started pursuing my a court claim, but later decided they were too dodgy that I’d probably end up with rocks through my window or worse.

6). I had a friend help me out in trying to see if it was salvageable by bearing replacement.

7). after a very long wait getting all the right bearings and spending a lot of hours on the car…. It was not salvageable by bearing replacement.

8). I took my car to a great garage in London to see if they could work magic - however the bearing shell has caused so much damage around the engine, if I wanted to repair the block it would cost me twice as much as I got the car.

Needles to say the bores were knackered and so much more meaning that my only real option is to go for a second hand engine (which seem to be incredibly hard to come by)….give up…… or K swap…. as the garage are willing to help me out with a K swap too this seems to be an exciting option. I’m researching this and trying to see what I can get second hand.

I would really appreciate if anyone can recommend any good k20a2/k24a2/k24a3 engines and if anyone has any second hand k Pro! This is my light at the end of the tunnel and would love to be a UK first I believe?

Please help save my s2k!
My friends unbeknown to me started this just giving page tonight which I really appreciate. if people publicly donate I would definitely do something ridiculous for charity
https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfund...ttrollingagain

But just advice on where/who to get parts from would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

I admire your dedication, although wince at the thought of the donor engine. I would have torched the thing out of hatred after that journey.

There is a low mileage (44k) engine (facelift engine) for sale on Facebook for £3500, I would consider this option over a K20, I think by the time you have fitted the K20 it wouldn’t be far off the same price as the replacement engine.

Swapping a K in will cost you more than a new motor in the long run.

What is goosed on your engine? I've got some spare parts from mockup.

^^ The block & bore has friction welding to piston damage.

I'm actually getting a great deal - ordinarily it would definitely cost more but it is looking I could do it for equal price-ish
