Thumbs up Leaving for 7 months....

Hi Guys

I'm up and outing the country for a while and am taking the car off the road until i get back.
Its going to be sitting at the top of my driveway (slight incline) and other cars will be parked infront of it for security.
I'm just interested to check and see if i remember to prepare the car correctly before i leave it - I've made a small list:

1. Wash/clean and dry throughly
2. Release brakes and chock wheels (replaced another caliper last month)!
3. Lock car with key fob, whilst leaving bonnet open to remove battery.
4. Cover with breathable Car cover (THIS ONE)
5. ???

Can anyone think of anything i've left out?

What about wedging in the clutch pedal? I had an MGB where the clutch seized to the flywheel after standing for a while.

Not sure if it's relevant to a more modern car.

I'd get it on axle stands if possible or some crap tyres to prevent flat spots

You can buy special chocks for the wheels to prevent flat spots on the tyres might be worth looking into. Also try and put lots of silica beads inside the car to prevent moister.

Or you might get it shipped to a warmer climate where i will take special care of it for you making sure the oil does not accumulate at the bottom end of the sump.

I will also detail it for you and of course garage it as I have ample space in my garage.

I remember someone suggesting making sure the petrol tank is full to the brim, to prevent condensation build up.

7 months - I'd much prefer it in a garage. Cant you rent one from a neighbour (ie little old lady without car etc?)

Or maybe some undercover storage?

7 months is long time under a cover... No matter how warm the outside temp is you are bound to get some moisture build up.

In the past I have entrusted my car to a specialist storage company that are happy to keep battery conditioned, car run every month, cleaned etc..

I think the last time I used one in 2007 it cost me around £75 a month..

Is hanging all the suspension by its now pre-loaded rubber bushes a great idea?

Not ideal but better than letting 4 tyres sit in 1 spot for 7 months hence the crap tyre suggestion
