Anyone able to explain how it is fitted?
Just go look at your car and imagine all your normal windows are plastic, thats how it will fit...

I've not seen my car properly for about 3 months! I struggle to tell the difference between an mx5 and an S2k let alone how the windows fit and how many gears it's got!

Obviously the weight should be compared for the same spec and size of the OEM glass, not just a piece of plastic that nearly resembles the OEM part.
The thickness would need to be the same (5mm) if not you won’t get the correct seal, bear also in mind that the glass is curved slightly as well.

If you are only tracking the car then good fitment is not an great issue.

she will be mainly a track car although I will keep her road legal.
as far a weight is concerned, I have no idea how much savings I'd get on the S. on a 4 door EVO it saved 12 kgs.
it will be curved plastic, as OEM.
good point you make about the thickness. I am not sure how thick the plastic is.
in addition to weight saving, MB just highlighted the safety side of things as well.
put the safety and weight loss together and it sounds like a bargain to me. certainly on my to do list.
