Loan Car

It's probably more to do with the perceived attitude that not only must the dealer make a loan car available, but that it must be of equal quality. Life just ain't like that....
Tacky loan cars are the norm not the exception. I had a BMW company car some years ago which went in for some bodywork and they promised a "similar" car. I got a green Austin Montego Diesel Estate which I hid for 3 days at the back of the office car park.
And then there was SGT in Taplow who provided a Fiat Uno whenever I had my Lotus serviced. One managed to break down less than a mile from the garage

Shouldn't that be "la belle France" Nick?!

Parts of it, probably.
Mostly, it's as overrated as Lincolnshire.
And it's full of the French.
And even worse than that, the English seem to be creeping in all over to make matters worse.
The food generally tastes better, though.

I would take a Spoon Fit (JDM Jazz) over an S2000 on track any day.
For what it is, the Jazz is a VERY good car, I even get one when the NSX is in for a service (when they don't have a Legend available).
Like for like courtesy cars went a long time ago.

I would love a Regendo as a courtesy car! I'd like to try SH-AWD.
Having said that, although the Jazz is a bit boring to drive, one cannot help but admire, or even like it, for being an excellent 'does what it says on the tin' type car.

I usually get a Jazz as a courtesy car and they're absolutely fine (especially compared to small cars from 20 or even ten years ago...)
Having said that, they always seem a bit "crunchy" going into 6th.

Did you have to pay a tenner for the priviledge?
I always used to give Maidstone a little notice and thy would generally give me fun stuff. Last car they gave me I had for 3 days because I couldnt get to them until the saturday.
Brand new MX5 - Was a little weak but a decent loaner nonetheless.
