The mechanism is that any hydrocarbon vapours in the spark plug tube are drawn to the heavily charged plug body.
If it happened quickly it might be indicative of a poor seal causing oil or petrol vapours to leak into that area
I did replace the tube seals at the same time, so that would explain the "fix" by changing the plugs

I've ordered some NGK plugs and I'll get a local garage to fit them along with my Js racing manifold, I'm hoping it solves the issue.

I've had new plugs put in (and a new manifold fitted) and it's still doing it. But it's intermittent.

If it feels like it's hitting a limiter at 7k Id say it's the plugs, if it's a clutch the revs will hit 9k instantly because there's no resistance I've had both problems. Hope it helps. Also make sure when you change the plugs, the gaps are set correctly, boosted s2ks have a smaller air gap!

It doesn't feel like either, it just feels like it loses power really.

Hmm... I'm just guessing. But I've known of fuel pumps having problems causing loss of power when under stress. Other than that I'm out of ideas. Sorry bro

What if it's detecting knock at that rev range now and again and it's retarding the ignition?

same with temp sender map and other low V think they can all be fuel/ignition related,
AFR is quite critical on the engines- dyno would maybe help save and point to the area
ps
you got a cat blockage ?

just had a read of your thread with manifold+exhaust mods ect
maybe you will need a new ecu map

Well it was doing it before the manifold was fitted. The more I think about it the more I'm convinced it's just the map that needs a little work. Waiting on Mase on getting back to me. It's on the dyno on Saturday so it may help with finding any issues.

EML came on this evening, three codes logged:
U1102
U0122
P1072

Might be the new manifold affecting fuel? Haven't really looked them up in great detail. It's been a **** of a week in all fairness.
