Default Lower Engine Block exploded! Help

Hi all, just registered, i recently purchased a 2002 S2000, was driving it on the m40 and boom, engine cut, water dripping everywhere, checked under car and there is a gaping hole to the left side of the lower engine block, apparently made dad said might have had too much pressure, rod inside pushed against block, I have noticed even more cracks to the lower engine bock.
Anyone know where i can get a second hand lower block complete??????

cheers
Yannick

better off getting a second hand engine whole. Check pistonheads parts section, there are a couple of S's on there for breaking.

Recently purchased - is this car not under warranty? If you purchased this through a dealer you may be able to claim. Even if you purchased this privately but took an AA/RAC inspection youmaybe able to claim.

Give "Bozwell" a PM, he's got my old block and he may be done with it.

A new engine is a costly process in time and money. I DIY'ed the swap and it's not a quick job.

A warranty is completely separate to a dealer's responsibility to you under the Sale of Goods Act. If it was a problem they ought to have known about and ought to have warned you about, they may still be at least partly liable for it. Trouble is, it gets difficult with used cars, and even more so when two months have gone by.

But it will depend on what has caused the problem, though I wouldn't hold your breath.

I think you still have some sort of come back with a garage even if you didnt buy an additional warranty.

I had a similar problem 6 months ago after buying my first S but my engine blew a week after. Contact trading standards/consumer direct as they will advise you further

Good luck buddy its going to get stressfull!!!

I think you'll be hard pushed to get anything out of a dealer, especially after 2 months. But defo give it a go. Just complain LOTS on one of their busyiest days (which I know at the moment is never).

A mate got an MR-S and the engine died after a week. He got the whole car replaced.

Unlucky fella , has it done many miles?

Maybe the garage/dealer was masking the problem or knew about it?

Seems most S's smash a hole through the block in the same way you describe when they go.

Best bet is to get a second hand engine, youll be looking at around 2-2.5k
