Default Lower windscreen trim doesn't refit

After the torrential rain on Monday, I noticed a puddle on the passenger footwell mat and wet carpet just behind the cross member on the floor

On closer inspection, it looks like the trim panel around the bottom of the windscreen is not a snug fit below the passenger wipe blade - I suspect this is after changing pollen filter. But despite the clips all popping back in, there is still a 2 inch strip where the trim panel doesn't abut the screen, leaving a gap which I suspect the water runs down and into the car.

Any suggestions on how to get this to fit better - I'd rather not fork out for a new panel as the Lings part funder quotes it at c£280 - ouch!

I didn't think the panel had to seal on the windscreen. I thought all water was diverted underneath? I know cars such as Ford Focus rely on the scuttle panel to seal after changing the pollen filter to maintain water tightness but when I changed my pollen filter on the S2000 I didn't think Honda had designed it this way.

The clips don't seem substanial enough to energize a seal to me - I would try checking your drainage points are not blocked up.

I had the same problem after a windscreen replacement. I was told that the trim doesn't stop water ingress, it's just to hide the edge of the glass etc. The guy from Autoglass had another go at it but it's still not perfect (1/4" gap at the worst point), but I haven't had any problems with water getting in.

Maybe the water was getting in from a dodgy side window seal - it was cats and dogs

Or that the plastic sill cover wasn't properly in place - I've never realised you could see the round through the seam of the sill to the floorplan....
