Must admit, running better than ever. More pickup since the new oil/bolt update. No, I`m not imagining it....seriously it is better.

It'll be those shiny new spark plugs Col, I reckon mine is a touch peppier too

Crown Honda recommend Shell Helix Plus...
Does anyone else use this, as I need to buy some this weekend and still not sure what's best!

Yep, that is what Geo Collins Honda have put in mine @ 9k and 18k.

Re Mineral 10w 30 - 'Car Plan' also produce this - C-A-R (Max-Power type car parts shops) stock this stuff.

I was using the Car plan 10-30 mineral, but Lincoln Honda have just done my recall work at 5400 miles and have replaced the oil with 15-40 semi-sympathetic

Mines going to Savoy Honda in Warrington tomorrow I spoke to the head mechanic saying I wanted to bring my own oil but he assured me that they use nothing other than Casterol fully synthetic 10-40w so that will do for me

Mine and hazdjc's dealer now uses Shell Helix Plus (semi synthetic). Does anyone know if a semi synthetic is up to a full 9,000 mile service interval without becoming as black as treacle I've got 3,000 miles before the first service but it would be nice to hear the experience of others that have put in fully synthetic oil? or maybe semi synthetic discolours at exactly the same rate as fully synthetic

Hi MD

The last service I gave my 00, they put in the Shell Helis Plus. Prior to that I had used Mobil 1.
I found that with the Shell Oil, the noise from the engine was not good, alway as if it was only half full of oil. So from now on I will take my own Mobil 1.

Can anyone tell me whether there's anything to prevent me from mixing different brands of oil?

Tachbrook Honda used 10W-40 fully synthetic Shell Helix (not sure whether Plus or Ultra) at my 9,000 mile service earlier in the week. In terms of topping up, should I buy more of the same? Or could I buy, say, 10W-40 Mobil One and use it to top up without ill effect?

The recommendation is never to mix oils.
