Default M4 Speed camera's

I know that a thread was posted recently about these, but couldn't remember what was said.

However had an email through this morning from one of the other offices we deal with saying:

M4 motorway has new electronic signs, these have hidden 'specs' speed cameras between Theale junction 12 and Membury junction 14/15. Beware!

These guys drive along this section of road quite frequently so I would tend to believe them.

One of my mates who works for the MET also told me that new cameras have been deployed on the M4. No bull.

If you check out the Thames Valley Police site you will see that they explicitly state that the new signs between Jcns 12 and 14 are not speed cameras.

There's a similar pop up message if you go to the website of Blackspot Interactive, the people behind Road Angel.

Moved to the main board, where it will have a wider audience.

(I'm intrigued to know why there's an apostrophe in the thread title though )

And you believe them??

I personally would be very dubious of any statement made by Thames valley 'We had to send a 3 million pound cheque to the government because we made too much money from our speed cameras' police force!

Can you imagine the furore if it was demonstrated that they had lied, and then tried to prosecute motorists relying on the evidence obtained from those cameras......? Yes, it would still be admissible, but there would be hell to pay in PR and political terms!

They're cctv cameras. For definite.

Apart from the fact that I have been told by my traffic policeman neighbour what they are, I travel that stretch every day and would have lost my licence by now several times over if they were SPECS cameras.....
