Manually turning off alarm possible ?
Hi - any help much appreciated.
I've returned from holiday to my S2000, and it has a dead battery (the battery was on the way out and I was expecting this).
However, as I disarmed the alarm / open the doors with the alarm keyfob, the alarm goes off constantly. The only way I can get it to shut the **** up is to arm the alarm on the fob again - back to square one.
I need to shut the alarm off somehow, so I can roll the car out of the garage, jump start it and go and get the battary swapped.
Is the only way to shut the alarm off to disconnect the battery ?
Why does the alarm go off when the battery is almost dead ?
The manual is useless and doesn't tell you any of this.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Rich

Rich I don't think you will get many replies on here as this is the sort of thing a potential car theif would love to hear about if anybody knows.
Other threads were the alarm have been discussed in some depth usually get dumpstered for the safety of the UK Owning community. Nothing personal mate, just a heads up on the hazards about talking alarm disabling.

Or at least if anyone can tell me why it is designed so I cannot turn the alarm off when the battery is nearly flat ?

You should have a key that you can turn the alarm off with. Looks like a small bike lock key, one of those cylindrical ones.
Alarm box under bonnet has a keyhole in it..

There is a way, I have it at home somewhere, but will need to look for it It was removed a long time ago from here due to car security etc before my time. I am sure someone will PM you - if not I'll dig it out, but i am not home until later tonight

I thought it should have come with a shut off key - my previous cars have all had shut off keys (BMWs and Mazdas)
Guess what..... mine didn't come with a key when I bought it.
This could be a right pain now. The neighbours are going to love me !!!

Most alarms do this so that a theif can't just disconnect the battery to disable the alarm - if they detect a drop in power they will go off. My old Renault used to do the same, and there was no way of turning it off.
One option is to get a jump start from a neighbour? Once the car is running the battery should hold enough charge to get you to a shop.

you get no such key with official factory fit alarm in the 04
nor any info in the user manual, the best you can do is
disable the ultrasonics or simply disconnect the battery

thanks for all your help.
Im going to tackle it tonight with ear defenders. Its very loud when you are in a small garage with it !!!!
If I can get the bl**dy thing to shut up, I can then roll it out of the garage and jumpstart it, then go and get the battery changed.
I hope I'm not going to find that the immobiliser has shut the whole car down when I disconnect the battery and reconnect.
