Pretty odd thing to come on here and choose as the subject matter if the intention was to troll - they're not exactly comparable, are they?
That said I don't necessarily think this is a trolling attempt.
Different cars mate, chalk and cheese try them both.

Even if the 5.5 was a biased owners guestimate I'd still take the 5.9 "real world" time with a pinch of salt..... the best time I've seen for the MPS is a 6.1 and that was with a pro driver rather than a real world one
The new Audi S3, weighs a tiny bit more has 265bhp and Quattro and only just manages 5.7 sec which is quite an achievement.
How would you control the wheelspin in the MPS?

Cheers for the sensible comments! Took the mazda for a brief test drive today. With the Aero kit (Lowered on eibach springs) the ride is quite firm and it does handle well. Look at the link above comparing the two cars lap times around the various circuits. With the newly tweeked traction control the car puts down the power suprisingly well! It is not all about 0-60 I am looking for the overall package. Obviously being the honda s2000 forum knew you guys would have the most useful input. Looks wise it is not as nice as the s2000 but it is still nice in my opinion. It is understated but sporty.
If they are just as quick, handle as well as eachother (Pretty much) but the s2k is 1200 more to insure...are looks the be all and end all. I want the s2k but am struggling to convince myself.....grrrrr!

This is a totally unfair question.
This is not a like for like comparison.
You need to compare
- FWD with FWD, not RWD
- Hot hatch with hot hatch, not roadster
- turbo with turbo, not NA
- 2.3 engine with 2.3 engine, not 2.0
At the end of the day, it will be whatever you like.
This forum will be biased towards the S.
Good luck in whatever you choose.

I have looked aover the internet but can not find anyone in a s2000 that has come up against the new Mazda 3 MPS aero????
I had one chase me down the A30 towards Exeter.
In the 50MPH roll on he was stuck to my bumper,
into three digits and the S walked away but not much in it.
This is not a great quality A road either.
Very quick car but very dull to look at.
Prefer the new LCR thing, if you must...

Why would anybody want a dreary looking box of a car with a few go faster knick knacks on it.
The boggo version, always in silver, is what old people down here on the south coast drive to whist drives and coffee mornings in church halls.

,,,,,,, it gets worse
When Mazda premiered this thing at Goodwood with about 4 dashing round the circit, albeit very quickly, it was to the echoes of much sniggering by the Marshalls.
Why would anyone want to buy such an orindary looking thing was the general opinion.
