Default Membership - How does this work?

OK - we have been over what guests can/can't do.
And to post a FS or WTB - you need to be a member.

And we want to make the place welcoming for newbies - and encourage membership blah blah blah...

However, there is an S2KUK page on Facebook which seems to allow free FS or WTB posts..

( oh - and linking to Ebay addy's seems fine too )

Am I the only one finding this a bit of a mixed message?

Below is an example..

I'm currently an S2ki guest and I can sell stuff in the window of my post office, or on ebay, whatever I like. Facebook is no different. You can't impose S2ki rules on facebook, nor are your stars transferable....

I know I argued the case for keeping it restricted to members.

But now - I'm taking the other POV here...

If everyone on here has been invited by S2KUK to be on Facebook and it runs FS threads - then it makes charging for it here a bit pointless / silly.

It's sufficient reason to drop it. ( however valid my argument was previously )

I suppose it comes down to exposure. I know I certainly use S2ki much more frequently than facebook, and even when I do go on facebook hardly ever go to the S2kUK page. I doubt selling stuff on there would work anything like as well as on here, but thats just my opinion.

My personal view

I pay to be a member of S2KUK as I benefit from it in dealer discounts and the cost is more than covered.

I pay (well before I volunteered to be a mod) to be a member here because I think the free advice/pic hosting/no adverts etc is worth the minimal outlay.

I'm not on, and have no desire to be on, Facebook.

Equally, I'm sure there are a number of S2KUK members who are on Facebook who have no desire to register as a guest or as members here.

Essentially, you pays (or not) your money.

You have to be a member of S2ki to post for sale ads - I don't think membership of S2KUK has anything to do with it although you get discounts and such like from menbership of S2KUK.

Yes you are the only one

What has Facebook and S2KUK got to do with the rules and regulations of this forum?

Chris.

It's all so confusing!

I want to sell stuff, so where do I pay and what else do I get?
