Default Mintex 1144

talk to me.. [/terry_tibbs]

a few forum searches say they are excellent, others say they squeal like a piggy.

i'll be using them for the odd track day (sometime mid-late 2012).

also, what's the road-use life span like vs normal pads?

i cant decide between the 1144's, standard road (down to price and the possibility i wont actually do track days), EBC yellowstuff (i know there is better), or the ds2500's which are the most expensive of the 4 sets.

all sets will be used on standard BI discs, and for this purchase, will be front pads only...

Mintex are sh1te.

DS2500 are very good.

No idea about Yellowstuff.

OEM very good for road use.

BI discs will be fine.

god knows - i guess whatever the 'normal' compound is.
ECP website only lists one S2000 pad - pn 101601358(i think ECP specific).
the box is now in the bin ontop of a load of other stuff, so wont be able to find out.

it wasn't any of the performance stuff that pagid do though.

Mintex was always a sintered pad - had alot of metal in it.
i.e. very hard on the discs.

Don't believe the BS on the forums either, the *NEW* EBC Yellowstuff is excellent on road and track, like oem with greater hot performance.
There are SO many threads on various car forums from 'experts', but the new materials are very different to 12m ago. I abuse mine regularly

My choice for track work would always be Carbotech XP10 or XP12 though - fantastic.

On my beastly Nissan, my preferred pad was Mintex 1155. A bit crap when cold, but when hot they had so much feel and huge stopping power.
That was a bit of a bus (weight wise) in comparison to my Honda, so different needs. Had to bed them for a few miles, and then do a couple of high speed stops to get them working correctly when first fitted.
I've just this weekend fitted the latest EBC Red Stuff all round. I have an airfield day in two weeks, so I'll report on how they fare under some pressure.

Are the Mintex 1144 or 1155 similar to OEM or better?!
