Default Missing bolt?

Hey folks, just been removing the stones from my rear bumber & noticed what I can only presume is a missing bolt.

Right bang in the middle of the number plate, about 3" above, between the two number plate lights there is a recess with no bolt in it, but looks like there should be one there?

I can see a hole on the 'receiving part' also. Guess it explains why the trim never looks 100% located around the number plate surround, where it meets the main bumper. Seems to hang a few mm lower than I would have expected

Its an MY05 - can some guru please let me know firstly if there should be a bolt (am pretty convinced there should be), and secondly what part number to ask Honda for?

Camera not charged, so no photo; but hoping it is obvious enough where I am describing.

Thanks

Matt

Just had a look and yes there is a screw (cross head) securing the soffit to the bumper. It's a self tapper not a bolt tho'.

Unfortunately I ain't no guru so can't help you with a part number.

Guru enough to know the word 'soffit' though Petron; thanks for looking!

Guess it had a knock as a dealer car & never fixed properly - already going in for the front bumper which sits about 4mm proud at one edge. In fairness to them, they are sorting it out FOC, but would have prefered not to have spotted it myself.

Thanks again

Nick,

Never understood myself until the weekend; shut the boot and heard a little tinkling noise of small stones falling from the rear bumber.

The large plastic part around the number plate which fits to the bumper (soffit as I have now learnt!) seems to have enough movement to allow smaller ones to move there & wedge in, causing small scratches with the movement of the car.

Gently flexing the surround & tapping the bumper seems to move them out - not sure how many I had in there, but all about 2mm max in size & blame it on a friend's driveway.

I never had a problem with it until the weekend, so dont worry if you dont have any stones - it all just adds weight afterall.

All I need to do now is insist my friend re does the drive, or I need a new friend!

There is a bracket on the back of the number plate holder designed to stiffen the bumper. It is up turned and fills with grit and stones. I took mine off and filled it with foam.

OK. that's why I didnt't get it... I don't have a rear number plate holder!

Previous owner must have taken it off? My plate just sticks directly to the bumper.

You do as ste_nova says it is two parts. The bar I've shown screws through the plate holder to the bumper from behind.
