Default Mobile cameras just before fixed cameras

A14 this morning, from Cambridge to Ipswich. There were two mobile scamera vans, one was parked 50m before the first fixed camera in the 40mph roadworks just before the first fixed camera, and another parked just before the 50mph "accident blackspot" nearer to Cambridge.

Suffice to say I think one of them got me, I was doing 50 past the 40mph camera. It's just getting beyond a joke. I'm not a dangerous driver, but I'm gonna be banned by the end of the year at this rate.

Be careful

They do this on the A412 in Denham. There's a 40 limit camera, which is in a sensible place, just before a busy junction and shops but they often have a mobile guy sitting not 100 yards from it zapping people as they enter the 40 limit from a 50 limit.

I wrote to the Thames Valley Partnership, and did receive acknowledgement but no explanation.

Bad luck!

You're absolutely right, it is pathetic.

It reminds me of the PC Savage parody: 'Walking on the cracks in the pavement & possession of an offensive wife."

My wife got done in exactly the same situation last weekend.

Fixed camera, poorly signed roadworks, with no workers, and a temporary camera less than 50 yrds ahead.

Outraged, myself and a friend drove our beaters down and parked on each kerb in front of the camera van. We spent 40 mins flashing oncoming motorists.

The guy in the van asked what we were doing, I told him we were waiting for a train, parked legally and why was it his business ?

He left 20 minutes later.

We must have saved 30-40 people from getting done. Good result for 40 mins work.

As far as points are concerned. . . Confucious say:-

Getting the first 3 ON is easy

Keeping the next 9 OFF is a little more difficult!

I thought that wasn't allowed, thought they had to take into account possibility of 10% variation in speedo reading, and accuracy of measuring equipment ?!?

I would surely investigate that one before signing the named driver slip ?!?
