A month old
I also have A MY00
1) not sue what this is although when cold mine rattles
The striker plates when up do wear out.
Ps make sure the clip on the roof it tight
2) Lithium (white grease) is the thing for this
3) Make sure you why?!!
4) This is common on the S it takes some getting used to. Either live with it like I do or buy a Cold air intake which should solve this
Cheers Rob

Hello tR|p^
As for the striker plates these are the little cups that hold the prongs that point out of the front of the roof (you can see these cleared when you unlatch the roof and fold back. They extend into the striker plate on the top edge of the windscreen. The plates can be replaced from Honda. Some DIY methods have included placing a small amount of rubber to pack the plate a bit. As for latch on the roof itself once you have unlatched the roof from the windscreen you will see some screws (If my memory serves me right) these might need to be tightened.
The grease can be found at Honda. When I got my car serviced last time they left a little bottle called PIT STOP this will lubricate the roof mechanisms/ joints.
The FAO thread will help immensely with this as it will give you the part number.
The CAI I am told helps enormously. I do not have one so I can not say that it will eradicate it completely. I have learnt to just blip the throttle before moving off if I have been in a lot of traffic and the engine has got hot. Another member might be able to answer that better than I can.
Cheers Rob

I will try to find the time to look into the rattling hood problem next week. Maybe it needs adjustment or replacement parts. As for the CAI, I read in some treads that its best to also go for a Mugen Fan Switch and a Mugen Low-Temp Thermostat, and an after market air filter.
So i did my shopping list which includes
Mugen Low-Temp Thermostat
Mugen Fan Switch
Spoonsports Air Cleaner
Spoonsports Carbon Air Duct (CAI).
My question is, Do I really need all the parts mentioned for the Kangarooing problem ?
btw. Where I live the temperature (in the shade) in summer averages to 38C.
Thanks once again
Evan
