Morning

Well it's that time again and unfortunately my car didn't pass the MOT.

It's failed on emissions and a misaligned screen washer jet.

Below are the emissions failures.

1. Exhaust hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle exceeds default limits (8.2.1.2 (b))
2. Exhaust carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle exceeds default limits (8.2.1.2 (b))

Can anybody help me to resolve these issues. Car is still in the garage at the moment so no further information I'm afraid.

A dose of cataclean (or similar) in the tank and/or a good run to get plenty heat in the cat and improve emissions?

 

As above or check for a small blow on the exhaust as this will draw in air and trash the emissions readings

 

Did you get the actual values on the emissions test?
Helps to know how bad it was, not familiar with UK MOT but here in Sweden we always get them printed out.

 

Car still in garage so I haven't collected any documents yet.

 

Watching, as the last MOT I had the tester had to give it some beans on the throttle to get it to pass on the second fast idle test last time round. One thing that I have noticed since is that my IACV was very rough and sticky when I cleaned it, but no idea if it would affect the fast idle tests specifically
