Default mpg

I have just filled the tank up for the second time. Just wanted to check the mpg figs. Managed to get 289 miles from filling up with 42.39 litres. I am amazed this car does 31 miles per gallon. Is this a record? is this the norm (avoiding vtec)? what is the lowest anyone has had? couldn't find any other uk threads on this

Ahh yes I remember the first two tanks around the 30 mpg level so I suppose it is possible to maintain.

The problem is the damned addictive VTEC. I am now averaging 27 but no complaints considering the driving.

If you click the link in Roadkills signature you'll see that he is doing better mileage. Having said that, there aren't too many dual carriage drag strips on Arran, or as many potential victims to vtec.

I am lucky if I get 150 miles to a tank. Lots of short journeys in bad traffic. Still a full tank usually last a couple of weeks. I think there was I thread some time back about how much petrol people had filled up with, i.e. how low there tank was before they filled up.

miles per gallon is irrelevant - resistance is futile, you will be assimilated

Well, on my weekly-ish trip to Winchester from Worcester I never fail to get 31-32mpg everytime. Motorway and A-roads all the way. VTEC it whenever I can to stop the boredom...

Alan.

My recent experience of motorways and A-road driving is much the as Alan's above - around 30mpg, doing a steady 70-80mph, with the occasional VTEC up through the gears when conditions allow.

I give it about another 6 weeks until the dry weather arrives and my mpg figure roughly halves........
