With all due repsect you buy this type of car to drive it not to do some efficiency drive! Loads of other threads on this topic too. For info, my GF gets about 280 out of a tank, I get about 210.

i.e. 11 gallons.

A LOT of people get mpg calculations wrong, many just state a "tank" even though they've only filled up with, for example, 8/9 gallons when the light may come on.

210 miles is 19mpg. I very much doubt anyone is really getting this low unless they really are in vtec ALL the time (i.e rarely going below 6000rpm). Many may fill up at 210 but still have 2/3 gallons left so in reality getting 23-26mpg which sounds ok for someone using vtec a fair bit.

Those who use vtec a few times for overtaking, a fun b-road blast and much of the time just driving normally will get late 20s. If you rarely use vtec, 30mpg + is easy. All figures better if on open roads a lot (i.e. when in France for example) and worse if in town a lot.

60% of the forum (me included) will say it will run fine, with a slight loss of power which is almost unnoticeable
30% will say "never put 95 ron in the tank", without much experience of ever doing so
10% will say "99 ron only, the car's never run in the wet and I use an angora rabbit to buff off the wax I apply routinely every Sunday afternoon

Isn't there a poorer MPG to be had from 95, so much so that being "cheap" and using it instead of 98/99 actually doesn't work out cheaper in the long run?

I don't use 95. I can't feel a loss of power, as such, but the engine sounds like it's not enjoying the experience. It is a JDM though. Maybe placebo effect.

If I know I'm just going to go on the motorway and burn off the whole tank then i'll use 95, especially if at a motorway services were the prices are even greater.

On Sunday I filled up with 95 at Maidstone Services after coming off the C Tunnel, then drove to Chester. Filled up yesterday, only 45 litres had been used (about typical when the petrol light has been on for a few miles) and I had covered 330 miles since Maidstone. Thats over 33mpg - a 366 mile range to empty! Not Bad.

Best ever motorway economy was 35 Mpg on French Tolls.

I was just wondering that's all, sometimes it's nice just to cruise around in the lower rev range rather than wringing it's neck all the time.
