My advise is dont run on 95Ron unless you cant get 97+Ron , its not going to blow up the engine or anything so it will be 'okay' on 95.
The ECU will just retard the timing hence a little poorer performance, and possibly MPG.
TBH I'm only interested in MPG on long runs on motorways etc which is far and few between now on the S.
FYI failing/dodgy sensors etc can result in poor MPG but then thats obvious.

Speaking of fuel economy, I am sick of getting 20mpg, even when I drive slow.
I have replaced my primary o2 sensor today, even though I had no CEL, in a bid to improve this.
I fail to believe that my right foot is the cause because I seriously think I odn't drive that aggressive anymore.

Giving the map sensor a tap, cleaning its connections and resetting the ECU sorted it out.
Something similar then happened to my current car just before the engine was replaced but as the engine was due to be replaced i didn't bother doing anything about it. When i got the car back with the new engine in the problem had gone so i assume it was related to the engine damage or a poor connection that got corrected as part of the engine swap.
I think people have reported that they get worse MPG on 95 ron.
Therefore it might be a false economy to go for that - ie 98/99 ron might cost 10% more, but it may give c 5-10% better MPG.
I wouldn't worry about fuel economy too much. Have you considered how much insurance will cost you? IMO that's probably the greatest potential "running cost" of the S2000.

I had this with my first S. It also wouldn't VTEC smoothly and idling was a bit rough. MPG dropped from 240-250 miles between fill ups (which were around 45L per fill) to 200 miles for the same fill up.

However, I filled up yesterday and in the interest of good science, I will leave it alone until I use this tank up to see if the o2 sensor alone has had any impact
