Default My car is back home

Hello folks,

Today is a happy day for me. Finally got my S back from honda and glad to report it runs super smooth and sounds awsome.

The car develpoed a Knocking noise from the engine just over 2 months ago which caused me to miss the xmas bash . Honda reported they beleived it to be a crank noise
obviously i was devastated.

I decided to ring HUK and see if there was anything i could get from them for assistance bearing in mind the car was out of warranty. You dont get if you dont ask tho, i get ti so much at work from customers so why not. HUK couldnt tell me how they could assist but said they would if i was to get a full investagation carried out to find a fault.

Move forward 4 weeks and after chasing the dealer a few times i finally got a call to say i needed a new short engine which is not cheap. On the posative side HUK were really good and agreed to share the cost of the part with a substantial contribution. The labour quote was not pretty tho.

All in all its worked out similar to getting a second hand salvaged engine but i have a 70% new engine and 2 years full engine warranty.

Im glad im back the S and looking forward to a year of VTECing. Oh and my first drive of the year coming back from dealer WAS roof down \0/ awsome.

Thanks for reading

Martin

good result. Well worth the call to HUK then really if you got 2 years cover for the similar cost of sourcing and fitting second hand engine.

I've got an '05 with just over 36,000 miles on.
Scary that yours developed a problem at such low mileage.
There are stories of 2009 models having problems but I was hoping 'ours' was OK.
Still, I did take out a Honda warranty at a very good price so should be all covered if it does go pop.

Honda fitted a new short Block to my car last march and I'm sure they told me it was only warranted for however long I had left on my original manufacturer warranty (which was about 4 months). Maybe because you had to pay money towards yours they've given you the warranty?

Technically after 3 years they didn't have to give him a penny, but nice to see they did!
